“They Offered Him Gifts”
{Matthew 2.1-12}

The main point of today’s passage is Jesus is King of All Peoples—Jew and Gentile. This is often a point that we often can take for granted, but don’t reckon with what it means for our day-to-day living. Matt focused on the two types of people we see in the text to help us consider how we respond to God.

1) The Jews — They did not go

We looked at three reasons people do not go to God in response to his kingship.

Herod did not go because he was overly concerned with his reputation and comfort.

The people of Jerusalem did not go because they were overwhelmed with a smaller story and forgot the wonder and magnitude of what God had called them to be a part.

The chief priests and scribes did not go because they had grown overly familiar with the things of God.

Of these three, which group do you sometimes find yourself in?

2) The Gentiles — Did go

The wise men from the East went, worshiped, and offered gifts. Matt had us write down what gifts we had and how we could use them for the good of others. When we use these gifts, our soul expands to receive the life it was meant to enjoy.

What gifts did you list? How will you use them in the coming days?
