“Born Again to a Living Hope”
{1 Peter 1:1-12}

  1. Meaning is sustained by identity and by story. In what ways have you experienced this reality in your own life? How have you seen it expressed in others?

  2. What would it mean in our cultural context for Christians to consider themselves “exiles”? In what ways do we resist our status as strangers in a foreign land?

  3. What do you believe about the doctrine of election? What questions do you have about it? How can it bring comfort and assurance to believers?

  4. How does our future hope give meaning and purpose to our present trials? Think concretely here about your own current trials. How might you face them differently this week, with your future salvation in mind?

  5. We often reflect on the meaning of the death of Christ, but what is the saving significance of the resurrection of Christ? How does this passage (and others in the New Testament) connect Christ’s resurrection to our salvation?
