Community Centered Church in Greenville SC

Our vision comes from Acts 2, where the earliest believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. They shared life together, met one another's needs, and the Lord added to their number daily. That same common life is what we pursue in Greenville today.

We are united by five Core Values:

  • Community — Small groups of believers who meet regularly to pray, share life, and read God's Word together

  • Discipleship — Teaching God's Word and applying it to everyday life

  • Liturgy — Gathering weekly around a worship order rooted in the biblical storyline, including weekly observance of the Lord's Supper

  • Mercy & Mission — Meeting tangible needs in Greenville and beyond through relief, development, and reform

  • Simplicity — Keeping the Gospel clear and central rather than multiplying programs

What Community Looks Like at Christ the Redeemer

Community is not incidental to who we are. All human beings are born into community. It shapes us and makes us the kind of people we are. At Christ the Redeemer, small groups are the nucleus of church community. Members pray together, share life together, read God's Word together, and are sanctified together.

Loving One Another

The New Testament calls us to a life of "one anothers." These commands define what Christian community looks like in practice. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote, a Christian fellowship lives and exists by the intercession of its members for one another, or it collapses.

Some of what that looks like here:

  • Bearing one another's burdens

  • Confessing sins to one another

  • Encouraging and building up one another

  • Forgiving one another as the Lord has forgiven us

  • Being hospitable to one another

  • Stimulating one another to love and good deeds

How We Worship Together

Each Sunday, we follow an order of worship rooted in the biblical storyline. It moves from the Call to Worship through Confession of Sin, the Assurance of Pardon, Preaching, the Lord's Supper, and a sending Commission. The corporate gathering is not a celebration of man. It is a set-aside moment to come underneath the Word of God and sing in response to his immeasurable mercy.
