“Jerusalem, My Happy Home”
{Psalm 122}
The two points from today’s passage were (1) Citizens Seek a City of Peace and (2) Pilgrims and Priests Promote a Place of Peace. We have been hearing over the past few weeks Scripture’s clear call and reminder that everyone who has confessed Christ as Lord is a priest of God. This is often something we can relegate to the “professionals”. But as we look across the Bible’s storyline, we see that the same Spirit of God that anointed the prophets and priests and kings has been poured out on us. Too often we discount his miraculous work in our lives and are content with living as though we are not priests or ministers of God.
Has this truth gripped you lately? Do you consider yourself a priest and a minister of God? Is it something you think about often? If not, why not?
What are your feelings toward Sunday morning worship? What keeps you from being excited and expecting to hear from God? If you are expectant and excited, how do you get in that state of heart?
As you think about discontentment in your life right now, how can this be used to draw you closer to Jesus?
What is one thing you need from God right now? How can we pray for you as a group right now and then this week?
Who is one neighbor you will proactively promote peace with this week?
