When All Around My Soul Gives Way
{Jer 52.1-11; 31-34}
The main point from our sermon was: Embrace the Lord’s Plans. Matt mentioned not simply enduring God’s plans. Not simply accepting God’s plans. But embracing them. What do you see as the difference between embracing and enduring the Lord’s plans?
It’s very easy to think about this abstractly. Now consider your lot in life right now. Would you characterize your disposition as embracing or enduring? What kind of change would need to happen in your heart and perspective to embracing his plans for you? If you find you’re embracing God’s plans for you, what kind of encouragement would you give to those simply enduring?
We looked at the responses of two kings—Zedekiah (the Blind Fool) and Jehoiachin (the Freed Slave). They experienced the same exile, but had very different responses to it. Both were mistreated. Both were helpless. What kind of questions or fears or anxieties or frustrations could you imagine either one of them struggling through? What advice would you give them?
Matt challenged us to not grow accustomed to hearing God’s Word and not stepping out in faith to obey. What area of obedience do you find yourself struggling to maintain right now?
Think back on a time when you were struggling with some sin or some circumstance, what happened that helped you out of that?
